Final Fantasy V - Part 2: My Milkshake Brings All the Voids to the Yard

September 10, 2018

Our FFV friends have just been transported to a parallel world, ruled over by the evil tree-turned-Alexander McQueen-dress named ExDeath. Drama! It’s ExDeath vs the Warriors of Light and Max vs Gin. Also, tree puns, dragons for pretty blonde girls, and the fine china of music. Bring me my morning sponge cake!

Final Fantasy V - Part 1: I Like Big Bartz and I Cannot Lie

September 3, 2018

Final Fantasy V is one of the more quirky entries in the franchise, having never come to America, and trading the multi-character saga of FFIV for a smaller, more customizable cast. It’s also weird a.f. In keeping with that theme, we brought the boys from Beliver/Skpetic Podcast on board to take a stab at the interdimensional shangingans of FFV! We got conveniently timed meteorites, genderfluid sea monsters, and fire demons all up in this b****!

For Skippers: Story Starts at 27:35

For Drinkers:

The Santa Klauser

Equal parts gin
One egg
A shot of simple syrup or honey.
Add a little sugar or half part of cream if you want it to be sweeter.

Emulsify the mixture for 35 seconds to a minute. Add ice to the martini shaker, and shake for a another minute or minute half. Pour into glass and sprinkle a dash of cinnamon and cayenne on top. Shake it in a shaker for 45 seconds.

Final Fantasy Tactics - Part 1: Astrologers Anonymous

August 20, 2018

Curveball! While Max is adventuring across an actual fantasy Kingdom (that is, the United ones) we’re releasing our first dive into a non-numbered entry: Final Fantasy as written by George R.R. Martin.

Step into a harsh, feudal world ruled by the power of the zodiac. A world where none of your spells should even work because astrology is fake, and besides, there's no way a Sagittarius could be a bad guy like ever. All of this plus: proper nouns, vodka soup, and drama. More wine!

Skippers: Story starts at 18 minutes in.

Final Fantasy III - Part 2: A Sexy Cthulhu, or Miss Xaaaandie

July 30, 2018

We return to the whimsical world of Final Fantasy III, only to get abrupt lost in a sea of darkness...or frozen time...or something. As we navigate the lower world in search of the remaining two elemental crystals, Karen endorses green tea flavored KitKats, Max traverses the bog of bottomless brunch (typical), and Tom comes face-to-tentacle with the Dark Cloud...or Mizz Dark Cloud, if ya nasty ;)

Final Fantasy III - Part 1: Your Clam Best Friend

July 23, 2018

This episode we are joined by Karen, former games journalist and current defender of the environment. Also, the four crystals are back...did you miss them? Final Fantasy III is a curious entry, having never been ported to English speaking territories until almost three decades after its initial release in Japan. Will four chosen orphans be able to restore light to a darkened world? Will there be off-handed references to unrelated fandoms? Will Karen ever get her tacos?

For Skippers: Story begins at 27:30

For Drinkers:

The Shiva

1oz White rum
2oz Blue Curacao
1oz lychee juice (lychee fruit optional)
SPLASH lemon juice

Feel free to top with soda to take the edge off the sweetness. I used Yuzu soda I got from a Japanese market and it was very tasty!

Final Fantasy II - The Beaver Whisperer

July 16, 2018

How do you top a hit video game? Well, Final Fantasy II is attempt! Mercifully, this is a one-episode take on the controversial follow up. It’s also the final appearance of sounding-board, Jake, who just wanted to play Yu-Gi-Oh on his cellphone, and we certainly didn’t blame him. Does Final Fantasy II deserve its criticism (yes) or is there a worthwhile narrative hidden behind its maligned gameplay (also yes!)

For skippers: story starts at 18:53

For drinkers:

The Chocobo

⅓  part Rose’s Lime Juice Cordial
⅓  part Pineapple liqueur
